My name is Muneeb Akhter, I graduated with a MS in Computer Engineering and started my own startup to get my Master's thesis to a fully developed product. I was programming since at 10yrs and hacking at 13yrs. I became very interested in cybersecurity from a young age after botting and cracking video games. I started GMU ECHO (Electrical & Computer Hacking Organization) at the time there were no cybersecurity focused student organization. The BS level courses that related to cybersecurity weren't as hands on, and the curriculum spent most if its time teaching basic programming skills and networking fundamentals. I wanted to challenge the status quo, believing that students will learn from their inquisitive nature after playing around with the current tools and getting a good look under the hood of how applications/sysinternals/processes/OS work. I had several part-time jobs relating to Malware Analysis for the Center for Secure Information Systems (GMU CSIS), Binary Reverse Engineering with SecureIT in Reston VA, and IDS monitoring and application security at GDIT. I also contracted my thesis under my startup with DARPA CFT contract vehicle. I have been developing secure APIs for small application companies and reselling government contracting data using Salesforce. I use Java, C# .Net, PHP/MySQL and Python extensively in my daily life (C# for desktop applications, Python for web scrapers and proof-of-concept / testing scripts, Java for cross-platform GUI interaction and distributed processes, and PHP/MYSQL for server side loading of information). I've done GNU C/C++ for Binary Analysis in Linux, and have good experience using linux for backend development. I've taken courses on both the hardware and software of computer architecture and OS design as well as secure programming. On the side, I made custom universal keyloggers and HTTPS Decrypting Man-in-the-middle Reverse Proxies for pen testing. I made proxy hopping web scrapers for automated anonymous information gathering. I also win quite a bit of hackathons in the DC/MD/VA area.
