Instructor, Computational Biology

My research focuses on understanding the evolution of tumor-cell populations, on how selective pressures, such as those imposed by chemo- and radiation-therapies, favor the survival of one tumor-cell population over the other. Towards this goal I developed algorithms that measure intra-tumor heterogeneity from next-generation sequencing data or from more traditional diagnostic procedures, such as H&E images.

As expected, she has performed very well on this project. Although strictly not her area of her expertise, she displayed wonderful analytical skills to bring this project to a closure well within the time period suggested for this project. I would highly recommend this programmer.

A model coder -- not only did she deliver all the code with all the modifications, she kept up to all the deadlines. She has a very deep understanding of modelling, statistics and software applications that she has mentioned in her resume. I highly recommend her work ethic -- timed updates, delivery of waypoints, improving code, making suggestions and strictly adhering to the deadline. I can't recommend a more proficient coder that I have come across. Highly recommended.

Integrated Gaussian mixture models and hierarchical clustering to predict the clonal composition of tumors from sequencing data. The method enabled quantification of intra-tumor heterogeneity and superimposition of patient matched primary and recurrent clonal compositions to identify therapy resistant cell-populations.

Pan-cancer analysis of the extent and consequences of intra-tumor heterogeneity.

Nature Medicine. In print.
Intra-tumor heterogeneity (ITH) drives neoplastic progression and therapeutic resistance. We used EXPANDS and PyClone to detect clones >10% frequency within 1,165 exome sequences from TCGA tumors.
