Environment Impact Assessment Project Client: A power plant company Business Need: The client wanted to carry out satellite based study using latest satellite data to find out the different LU/LC classes around the power plant set up by the company. Area under different categories was estimated for different buffer areas in GIS environment. This data was further analyzed to find out severity of impact on different land-use/land-cover classes due to the existing power plant. Area Covered: The LU/LC was to be analyzed for 5km, 10km and 20km buffer area around the power plant Business Solution: Land-use\Land-cover was created using latest satellite image. Hybrid classification techniques were used to extract the information. The data thus generated was analyzed in GIS environment to calculate the area of each feature type with different peripheries, as required by the client.

Digital Surface Model (DTM) from Stereo Images Using Remote Sensing Techniques Business Need: The Business requirement was to create seamless Digital Surface Model (DTM ) and Ortho Images Area Covered: The DTM was to be created for more than 10,000 Ha area of Delhi, India Inputs Used: Image type - IKONOS Stereo Pair Resolution - 1m No. of Stereo-pair - 1 Sets Business Solution: DTM was created using high resolution satellite stereo- pair. Remote Sensing techniques were used to extract the required information in raster format. The DTM thus obtained was thoroughly checked for- i) Sudden abnormal height variations ii) Failure values iii) Visible seam along the two model boundaries DTM was edited and modified using different Terrain editing techniques and also through local interpolations. Shipment: The following shipments were made- DTM 0 Resolution: 1 m 0 Format: TIFF 0 Unsigned 16bit

Client: Basmati Rice Exporters of Punjab Business Need: India and Pakistan are the two-major Basmati exporting countries. To fix a competitive price of Basmati in the international market and also to commit the exact amount of Basmati that could be exported, correct estimation of acreage of Basmati was required by the client. Client also wanted to monitor the crop health during different stages of plant growth. Additionally client also wanted to know the acreage of other crops being grown in the state during Basmati growing season. About Basmati: Basmati rice due to its aroma and taste is in high demand in the international market. The supply of Basmati in the local market varies drastically from year to year, depending upon the climatic condition and also based on the income that farmers had due to growing of Basmati during the previous year.
