Senior Linux Systems Administrator / DevOps

Linux systems admin with more than ten years experience working with web hosting and development companies. Managed mostly lamp/lemp stack related applications on CentOS/RHEL and Debian/Ubuntu distros and work experience includes server setup, migrations, security and hardening, tuning and optimization, and all other areas of linux and open-source web hosting. Support deployments from small single server setup up to more complex web and database clusters for scalability and high-availability, as well as different levels of caching and content delivery.

Technical Skills

Server Operating Systems:
- RHEL, CentOS, Debian, and Ubuntu

Cloud / Hosting Providers:
- Manage deployments in Rackspace, Amazon, GCE, DigitalOcean, and Linode
- Manage dedicated servers in Softlayer, Hetzner, OVH, and Co-locations

Server Security:
- PCI Compliance. Nessus, Trustwave, ControlScan, etc.
- Server hardening (basics to advanced setup)
- Firewall. server level (iptables etc), cloud WAF, and dedicated firewall devices

Load Balancing:
- TCP (http, mysql, etc) with Nginx/HAProxy and Cloud load balancers
- Global (DNS) Cloud load balancing

Database Replication (MySQL):
- master-slave and master-master
- multi-master (cluster) with Percona Xtradb and MariaDB clusters

File Replication (multiple servers):
- glusterfs
- lsyncd + csync2

Backups:
- Onsite and offsite, cloud backups, AWS services, Server images, R1Soft/Idera

Alerts and Monitoring:
- Newrelic, Pingdom, UptimeRobot, PagerDuty integrations
- Graphing with Newrelic, Cacti, MRTG, and Munin

Drupal and Wordpress Administration:
- Optimize LAMP and LEMP stack deployment to different hosting providers
- Server and site performance evaluation, tuning, optimization, and security
- Service integrations: ApacheSolr, Memcached, APC, and Varnish, CDN

Configuration Management:
- Ansible, Chef, Linode StackScripts

Version Control Systems:
- Github, Bitbucket, Gitlab administration and deployments/hooks
- CVS and SVN administration

Work Terms

Available for full-time, part-time, or project-based opportunities.
Work hours is daytime US Central time and can adjust to different timezone if needed.
I'm available online most of the time (Skype, Slack, Gmail/Hangouts) and available on-call/phone for urgent requests.
