Raster images or bitmap images (ex. PNG, JPG, PSD) are made up of pixels when they are zoomed they become blurry and pixelated. On the other hand Vector images (ex. EPS, AI, CDR, SVG, PDF) are essentially math equations and each dot, line, and shape is represented by its own equation. Unlike raster images, vector images are resolution independent.
