## BIO
Matthew Paul Maes
For over twenty years, my life was centered around adventure tourism and travel. My summers were spent on the river, guiding whitewater enthusiasts down challenging rapids, while in the winter months I conducted overland desert tours.
This type of work is fun and exciting not to mention addictive, but like all good things there are always the drawbacks. Beyond the physical toll this work has on a body, seasonally employed tour guides earn low wages and generally don’t contribute funds into a retirement account.
Old river guides don’t die, they just keep on floating downstream. Wanting more out of myself and my future, I stowed my river gear and began the arduous task of gaining an education and starting a career.
During my heyday as a tour operator, I began to create a virtual travelogue by videotaping and photographing many of the scenic and historical sites I visited, so when the time came for me to reconsider my path in life, it was only natural for me to pursue a career in media production.
Today, after years in college and exposure to the real world of television, I am ready to join a team with other dedicated media professionals and to become the best communicator I can be. To those ends, I am showcasing my skill sets at my website with engaging video webcasts, blogs and other content intended to captivate and intrigue a target audience.
My life as a media producer has much in common with my past experiences. Both occupations are fun and challenging requiring above average skills and talents but mostly they require something in short supply these days commitment. Attributes I posses and am eager to share.
