Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Please note: Ignore the budget - while we are a small non-profit we are keen to explore our options right now as the work is due to start in February 2022. UK-based video editors only please. Thanks.
Hi, I'm Nat. I manage content for WasteAid, a UK-based international non-profit that works with lower- to middle-income countries to implement sustainable waste management.
One of our projects, the Circular Economy Network, ran a Zero Waste Cities Challenge earlier this year across Johannesburg (South Africa), Guwahati (India) and Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) to find grassroots entrepreneurs with ideas and startup businesses to close the loop on waste in their cities. A total of six winners (two per location) have recently been awarded €10,000 seed funding plus support to help make their ideas a reality.
We now want to be able to tell the stories of these winners! So, we're working on briefs and plan to use a local videographer in each city to capture the footage (interview, b-roll, etc). However, we're hoping to get a relatively consistent look and feel between the videos, so we're seeking a UK-based videographer to work with us to edit the videos together.
We've previously done this before - here's an example of the original challenge video: https://youtu.be/H3oPeFrmK9Y and then location based challenge videos - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsFfbb4H7Kg&ab_channel=WasteAid (South Africa); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVR4uTDL-3U&t=9s&ab_channel=WasteAid (India); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8DsR2211j0&ab_channel=WasteAid (Vietnam). Local videographers captured the footage (with basic technical requirements set out by the UK-based videographer) and a videographer in the UK edited them together with support from me in terms of the script and overall brand narrative (plus we chose the music together, went through ideas for footage clips for the whole script together, etc).
Obviously, the six winning videos will be slightly different. For example, I will be sifting through the footage to work out how to tell the story (winner interview clips). Then I imagine it would be a case of either me sifting through the b-roll and/or working together in terms of how to convey each winning innovation in the best light.
Total videos needed: 6
Length of each video: Maximum 5 minutes, ideally around the 3-4 minute mark
Basic technical requirements to give to location-based videographers: Yes
Subtitles needed: Yes (can provide the transcripts)
Music: Unsure
We will have the footage uploaded by the end of January and ideally we are aiming for mid-February in terms of the videos being edited together by you - providing this is feasible :)
It is highly likely at least 1 of the videos will be in Vietnamese.
Keen to get a feel for your work, the programmes you use, how much you would usually charge for this type of project and any other questions you may have. Looking to make a decision before the 17th December, ideally earlier.
