Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
Ladies and gentlemen, I am looking for a few good developers to help me with overflow on various AWS-centric projects, I need developers who have a "can do" attitude because my projects are never the same. One moment you will be developing Lambdas to process video jobs, the next you will be developing a web application on Node.js hosted in S3, the next moment you will be helping troubleshoot a Django web application running on EC2, and then you will be developing a serverless CMS. These are just some examples of the type of work that I have on a regular basis.
I have been working with a developer who lives in Bangalore for the past 4 years and he is very good at what he does, Unfortunately, he is not as available as I would like him to be and my workload keeps growing with no sign of stopping. The goal here is to build a team I can depend on to handle the overflow of work. Eventually, I want to transition full-time to the role of Cloud Architect with a few engineers capable of bringing my solutions to life in a quick and effective manner.
This engagement is not for the faint of heart. I need only the best of the best. This engagement will be ongoing with no definite end in sight. If I select you to be a part of the team, you can rest assured to have a steady stream of income for as long as you can deliver.
You must be dependable, reliable, capable of learning to do things as you go along, a perfectionist with a keen eye for detail, a programming artist, and committed to becoming the best cloud developer you can possibly be. You must also be capable of working on your own and as part of a team with very little to no supervision; have great written English skills; and be capable of adapting to an ever changing landscape of cloud technologies and development patterns.
As far as technology is concerned, ideally you should be an advanced Linux user; you should know how to connect to a remote machine using SSH, RDP, or Systems Manager; know how to use yum and apt-get; know how to configure Apache and/or Nginx to serve a Node application; know how to set environment variables; know how to use the Parameter Store and Secrets Manager; know how to connect to a database; know firewall basics; know networking basics; be familiar with VPCs, Internet Gateways, and NAT Gateways and what they do; be familiar with at least one continuous deployment tool like Jenkins or Code Deploy; know how to leverage SNS and SQS; be very familiar with IAM roles and other important computing security principles; know how to work with Git and that means not just how to commit your changes to a repository and push them back to the origin but also know the difference between merge and rebase and when and why you should use one and not the other; be fluent in at least one of the following languages: JavaScript, Python, PHP, Java, or C++; know what Docker, and Kubernetes are and the problems they solve; be at least familiar with the API Gateway, and Lambda and Cognito authorizers; Cloudwatch, Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, etc., etc. Don't worry too much if you don't have all of the skills listed above, your attitude and ability to learn are more important.
Bonus points if you are AWS Certified and if you are not, I will pay for your certification exams if you are willing to get certified. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
