In December 2010, I took up an opportunity to work as a GIS consultant for CSS (Conservation Support Services). My current job is based in Sierra Leone and I consult to ADDAX Bioenergy. My GIS knowledge has been implemented on the Resettlement Action Program, which is in place to solve both social and environmental aspects on the project. During this time I have helped implement policies and frameworks which have created and developed the Asset Compensation Plan and the Social Department. These procedures have helped us all work with different people, putting differences aside and working towards a common goal. My responsibilities include training and supervising 25 fieldworkers who are tasked to collect data using GPSs, and processing GIS data to the best of my ability for further use on the project. The GIS data is then used for decision making, planning and creating maps for various uses. This process has improved my design skills, by taking numerous factors into account and finding the most ideal locations for development to occur. My knowledge of GIS, environmental, social, data basing, policy frameworks, budgets and management, has increased considerably throughout the duration of the project. This invaluable experience has benefited me in numerous ways and has taught me self discipline, leadership, decisiveness, planning, and how to follow procedures under the pressures of project deadlines. Midyear of 2011 I was made CSS Sierra Leone Project Manager, with this came further responsibilities of managing my peers as well as keeping track of project progress. During 2012 an Android system using Samsung tablets for data collection was implemented. The Samsung tablets were used to conduct a population census for over 32000 people. I was assigned to train the data clerks and construct the projects procedures and protocols.
