I am a full-stack developer with a [login to view URL]. from the University of Hull in Web Design & Development, and I spent the better part of the last decade building web applications. Most of my work has been on building robust and performant backend APIs powered by plain PHP or frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony backed by MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL for data storage. I have also created frontend applications powered by plain JavaScript and frameworks such as jQuery, React or Vue combined with UI frameworks such as Bootstrap, Tailwind and Vuetify. I find that following proven best practices when building software can be key to creating robust applications. Concepts such as KISS, SOLID and TDD can make the difference between spending money on creating features for your users or constantly fixing the same bugs. I frequently used my DevOps knowledge to power the infrastructure behind the projects I touched. Either by optimising existing processes or by creating entirely new setups such as local development environments, complete CI/CD pipelines as well as production deployment instances. Technologies used for this range from VMs on hypervisors(e.g. VMWare) to Docker containers on Kubernetes clusters. I'm interested in agile methodologies for both engineering and business practices, as I truly believe having the ability to quickly react to changing circumstances without a prohibitive cost can really improve the chances for success.
