We chose him because he seemed to have a really good energy, the skills to do what we needed and he was willing to work on our small budget. But the moment we started something was off kilter. He started about a week late and then requested a holiday for the festive season. We granted it considering that it's a special time of year. When he returned we extended the deadline to fit the new time frame. He said it would be done end of January. But by the time we reached the last week he had only shown us a prototype, not even a demo as promised. When he finally did upload the apparent 'demo' he also sent us a message saying he was quitting due to financial reasons (which is odd considering he took a two week holiday - something financially struggling people don't do). The upload was basically all the work he had done with no said demo included. Apparently it's the framework and only the content has to be added but we aren't programmers so we'd have to start from scratch with another programmer, who might not be so keen to work from another person's setup. Our project is small and self-funded and to have someone quit after receiving 60% of their payment but only doing about half the work was devastating. The worst part is that he never communicated his concerns or asked for help. To Lars: If you take on a responsibility you have to go all the way. If your are lost, you have to ask for support. To not care is not an option. We would've found a way to help you if you asked...
