CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY – Calgary, Canada [June 2011 – Present]
Position: Linux Administrator - Contractor (eChannel and GCRS2 projects)
• Set up various server environments based on SUSE linux as operating system and make up software middleware such as IBM TAM stack (Policy server, Authorization server, Directory server, WebSEAL server), IBM WebSphere, IBM eXtreme Scale, HAProxy, NGINX and Keepalived.
• In order to minimize services downtime high-availability environments were set up at several application levels through open source software such as HAproxy and Keepalived. This allowed us to follow the uptime metrics stated on the original project specification.
• To follow project directives and requirements, it was necessary to adapt and improve Splunk and Appdynamics monitoring systems.
• An efficient infrastructure design was successfully implemented for GCRS2 project.
• In order to deploy software components and configuration across the servers, configuration managers such as Puppet and Ansible were successfully used.
• By keeping project documentation on wiki up-to-date, the project achieved a dramatic reduction in information searching times.
