Shawn L. Djernes started SD Consulting as a sole proprietorship in 1996 working out of his home building custom computer systems, providing training and technical support to blind computer user in the Lincoln, NE area. A couple opportunities came up on the east coast so he moved but when they fell through he put the knowledge of business he had learned from five years in a startup company to work. In August 2003 Shawn restarted SD Consulting in the Pittsburgh, PA area again doing training and technical support for blind computer users, but had also branched out into custom application programing and general IT services. In the fall of 2004 an opportunity came up for Shawn to move back to his roots in Nebraska. This was a full time job, so he gave up on contracting for a while. After four years he decided that working for the government was not for him and he came back to the consulting business in 2008.
In March of 2009 the main focus of the business changes when Shawn found there was a real need for people with skills working with the Asterisk Voice over IP telecommunications platform. Shawn had been using this platform for years in many small projects and after a few requests he took on a large project to develop an Interactive Voice Response system. That project lasted until the summer of 2010 when the company lost venture capital. However, on the good side it led to several referrals. At that time the company was primarily focused on Voice over IP telecommunications and custom programing.
In July 2012 SD Consulting was converted to a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC). With the conversion our focus shifted as the request of our clientele changed. We got involved with the Apple Consultant Network and became a Datto partner to get more opportunities in the market.

Work Terms
We work on a by appointment basis either remotely or at the customers site.
If the customer is more than 50 miles from Omaha, NE than the customer will be responsible for paying for travel time and over night stay if needed.
We take payment via CreditCard, PayPal, and for local in person Cash
Our hourly base rate is $90.00 with a 2 hour minimum. If you pre-negotiate a project or get a referral from an existing client your rate may be lower.
