“I author formalized language with an emphasis on grammar, syntax, vocabulary and morphology.” That’s writer speak for “I write stuff.” Look, let’s be honest, nobody likes to open up an article and feel like they’re having a dictionary thrown at them. Yet, there seems to be a subculture of writers who seem to think that the more complicated your work is, the better it is. Many people seem to forget that the goal of writing isn’t to sound smart, but to create enjoyable and relatable content.
